How to use this itinerary

This 2-day Milan itinerary is designed for a first visit with geographically coherent days. It assumes full sightseeing days; remove a block if arrival or departure takes half a day. The sequence is editorial advice, not an operator schedule. Place your principal booking first and protect time for meals and rest. Several options below are alternatives, not a requirement to complete everything.

Day 1 morning: Duomo and the centre

Begin around the Duomo and decide whether you want the interior, terraces or both. Access methods, stairs and ticket coverage may differ, so read your reservation carefully. Connect the Galleria area with a short walk and coffee break. Do not add every shopping district to the first morning. If queues or weather intervene, protect the main visit and remove optional stops instead of rebuilding the whole day.

Day 1 afternoon: Brera

Choose whether Brera means an art visit or a slower neighbourhood afternoon for you. If considering the Pinacoteca, verify entry conditions and allow a separate block. Compare dinner options beyond the busiest central square. Stay nearby or return towards your hotel for a quieter evening. If the Last Supper is essential, arrange your days around confirmed ticket availability rather than assuming that you can solve it at the door.

Day 2: castle area and Navigli

Make the Sforza Castle area the morning focus, distinguishing courtyards from museum interiors and checking what is open. Add a short Parco Sempione break in suitable weather. Use a separate travel block to reach Navigli later and walk beside the canals. Check menus and total prices before dinner. A Como excursion belongs on another day rather than being squeezed into this already substantial two-day city route.

Accommodation and airport details

Confirm which airport your Milan flight uses. Connections, costs and last services can differ. Assess a hotel by station access and your actual route, not only proximity to the Duomo. Compare rates for your dates rather than relying on generalisations during fairs or events. In rain, shorten the park block and extend a chosen interior. Separate transport, admissions and meals in your budget, with shopping as an additional decision.

Official source and final checks

Use the official YesMilano guide for destination research. Confirm fares, schedules, accessibility and temporary closures directly with the relevant institution or operator before travel. This article does not guarantee prices or uninterrupted access. Save your hotel address, main booking and return connection offline, and agree on a meeting point with companions. Shorten the route for your own needs, especially with children or mobility requirements.
